Continental has created an innovative car display

Continental has created a projection car display with the ability to create augmented reality. Now the novelty is the status of pre-production and is being tested on the test car. Continuous development may be in 2017.

The system, which operates on the principle of a film projector, lies digital micromirror device (DMD), which creates the image. The picture generated in the area, height 60 cm, height 130 cm, which is located at a distance of 7.5 meter in the field of vision.

At this stage of development of new items on display can be displayed evidence of the three systems: active cruise control, indicating the distance to the car in front, navigation data, which suggest the image of arrows on the road to continue the route, as well as departure warning function of the occupied lane. In addition, the display information will be displayed and, for example, the speed or the selected program.

System using a series of cameras and sensors, as well as navigation data and information about speed, can adjust the image on the projection display depending on the viewing angle changes a person behind the wheel. This feature was designed to correctly display the data on the screen. In the serial version of the driver's gaze will follow the camera in the cabin.
