On London buses will "definable" technology

In the next two years on the streets of the British capital will come buses equipped analog "formulaic" system KERS.

Engineering company GKN and English public transport operator Go-Ahead Group released on the streets of London 500 buses with specially developed system Gyrodrive. With high carbon flywheel stores kinetic energy, it brakes and then converts it into electricity.

According to estimates of engineers, application of such a system will provide fuel savings of about 20%, which is comparable to the achievements that demonstrate traditional hybrid propulsion. However, the braking energy is recuperated Gyrodrive will cost much cheaper.

After testing the system on the streets of London will receive similar improvements buses that transported residents of other British cities, including Oxford.

The creators of the system is particularly proud that the London public transport will get technology, which not only have a "formulary" roots, but also, for example, provided the Audi race victory at the "24 Hours of Le Mans."
