Honda will release a new mid-engined sports car

Manual of Honda gave the "green light" serial midsize sports car with mid-engine layout. The Japanese plan to revive the name for the new items S2000, which was sold under the anterior engine roadster, the discontinued in 2009. 




The new sports car will be offered exclusively with a body "coupe". It will be equipped with a hybrid power plant, which uses technology developed by Honda engineers, together with specialists of Formula 1 team McLaren. Its members will include gasoline "turbo four", electric motor and a seven-step "robot" with two clutches. Total output will be around 370 units of horsepower. 

In the role of the internal combustion engine will perform a forced two-liter engine, which will debut in 2015 on "charged" hatchback Civic Type R next generation. In hot hatch this engine will produce 280 horsepower. 

It is assumed that the new Honda S2000 can recruit first "hundred" for five seconds, and its fuel consumption in the combined cycle is not more than six liters per hundred kilometers. 

The basis lies S2000 NSX supercar lightweight architecture of the next generation with extensive use of aluminum and carbon fiber, making weight coupe not exceed 1,300 kilograms. Production of both models will establish in the U.S. state of Ohio in the new enterprise, which "Honda" will invest $ 70 million. 

It is expected that the coupe will go on sale towards the end of 2017. Prices for the novelty will start about 70 thousand dollars.
