Volkswagen XL1 will be more spacious

In VW ready to seat in hybrid XL1 two more passengers. Manufacturer believes that this will make the car more competitive.

Volkswagen XL1 weighs just 795 kg. However, his four colleagues were heavier at 140 kg, according to the publication Autocar. Heavier hybrid with additional rear doors, large cabin and heavier batteries.

To maintain the momentum of the super hybrid at an acceptable level, VW ready to slightly increase the capacity of both components and the hybrid power plant. VW XL1 is equipped with 48-horsepower two-cylinder diesel engine and 27-horsepower electric motor. Quadruple XL2 get the same power plant, but it is not specified how it will become more powerful.

It is expected that up to 100 km / h hybrid will accelerate in less than 13 seconds, and its maximum speed exceeds 160 km / h, that is, the dynamics of the hybrid from the addition of two seats should not change appreciably.

But what is most interesting in the VW going, despite the additional 140 kg, to keep on about the same level and phenomenally low fuel consumption. It is worth recalling that the VW XL1 is capable of consuming only 0.9 liters of fuel per 100 km.

But what definitely affect two additional seats, it's the price of a hybrid. According to Autocar, the value of VW XL2, which may be presented in the next year will exceed 110,000 euros. However, in the VW believe that such hybrid vehicles will be able to compete on fuel cells, for example, Honda FCX and Toyota FCV.
