Bosch has developed a new system of Collision Warning (Video)

Bosch has developed a new rail transport system collision warning. The system includes a radar and camera to detect vehicles, buses, rail vehicles and static obstacles on the way.

"Using the system allows to warn drivers of dangerous situations on the track and help prevent accidents - said Bernhard Beer, President of Bosch Engineering GmbH. - This greatly increases the safety of the passengers and the driver while driving."

Since the beginning of 2014 transport companies Hanover and Frankfurt in actual conduct tests trams equipped with such a system. These tests will enable Bosch Engineering to further improve the system and complete the process of its preparation for the launch of series production in 2015.

In developing the system was used Bosch's experience in mass production of spare parts for cars, as well as special software for railway transport in the complex will create a high-performance solution with many features. The collision warning system consists of cameras, radar and control unit.

Employment multipurpose camera is to capture a roadblock immediately before train. A mid-range radar with a viewing angle of 70 degrees and a range of up to 160 meters of logs information about other rail vehicles further along the route, as well as the position and speed of cars, trucks and buses, which are on the sides.

In addition to the detection of moving objects, static radar system detects obstacles such as buffer stops. High-performance control unit processes the information from the sensors together with other data (eg, the speed of the train). If the system detects the distance to the object to a dangerous level, it takes the driver a visual and audible alarm. The sensors of the new system work at any time of day, day and night, regardless of weather conditions.
