Volvo has confirmed the release of a compact crossover

Chairman of Volvo Hakan Samuelsson confirmed in an interview with Autocar rumors about the development of a new compact crossover. Most likely, the new product goes on the market under the name Volvo XC40 in the next four years.

"Small crossover is at the top of our list of preferences," - said Samuelsson, adding that the compact size will not harm the premium character of Novik.

It is assumed that the future Volvo XC40 will be built on a modular platform CMA (Compact Modular Architecture), developed by Volvo, together with its Chinese owner Geely.

HÃ¥kan Samuelsson assured reporters that, in addition XC40, the company no longer plans to further expand the range. Instead, the automaker will deep upgrade their current car, so that by the end of the decade to increase annual sales from 450 to 800 thousand cars.
